HertsWatch
was formed following a review of NHW carried out by the Police Authority, which
recommended far better support for NHW from the Police. A Project Manager, former
Supt. Mark Custerson and then a Project Officer, David Aylett, were employed
to review and improve matters. A working group was formed out of which a document
came, NHW Into the Future. This details 5 key recommendations and
details a structure for NHW in Herts.

Hertfordshire Constabulary employ
Watch Liaison Officers to help manage Neighbourhood Watch Schemes for districts
and boroughs. They meet regularly with their local Neighbourhood Teams and Neighbourhood
Watch Community Co-ordinators to ensure that information is shared to help fight
crime. The WLO for St.Albans & District is Stella Brimblecombe 01727 796087.
